The investor side of The Obsessed Group.
Open only to UK individuals who meet the high net worth or self-certified sophisticated investor criteria. Eligibility and how to register your interest are set out below.
What this is, in plain English.
What we buy.
UK accountancy and bookkeeping practices. £500,000 to £1.5 million turnover. Compliance, advisory, and mixed revenue. Not audit-only. Not overseas.
Why we have an investor channel.
The Obsessed Group is being built through founder capital and a small number of HNW and self-certified sophisticated investors backing the work. The channel is not a fund – it runs alongside the operating business. Anyone backing the group is backing what we’re already doing.
Who can register.
UK individuals who meet the FCA high net worth or self-certified sophisticated investor criteria. Full criteria set out below; formal investor statement is completed after registration if there’s a fit.
How we operate.
What we buy.
UK accountancy and bookkeeping practices. Typical deal size £500,000 to £1.5 million turnover. Compliance, advisory, and mixed revenue. Not audit-only. Not overseas.
Every business goes through the same proprietary valuation, built in-house – a rigorous initial check backed by full financial and legal due diligence. It tells us the risk profile, the multiple, and how the practice fits the group. Cash and earn-out structures both used. Plain English contracts. Direct with Ben.
What we change.
When a practice joins the group, every client gets onboarded. They get the chance to use the rest of the platform – Obsessed Accounting for compliance, Obsessed Advisory for growth work (the Academy, VOP, and 1:1 with Ben). They take what they want, when they’re ready.
Master’s degrees minimum across the team. ACCA-regulated practice. Qualified people doing the work.
How we run it.
Each acquired practice sits in its own SPV under the group. Obsessed Group Ltd holds the platform; Obsessed Ltd operates it; Obsessed Accounting and Obsessed Advisory are the operating teams. Every acquisition runs inside that structure.
The group is built to keep what it buys, integrate it properly, and run it for the long term – not to strip and resell. Acquired practices keep their local identity. The group standardises the way they’re run.
Why we acquire in accountancy.
01
Recurring revenue.
UK accountancy is built on monthly retainers and annual compliance work – corporation tax, payroll, VAT, statutory accounts, self-assessment. Most clients stay with their accountant for years. The revenue is recurring and forecastable. That’s the foundation of what makes an accountancy practice worth acquiring and running.
02
Fragmented market.
Thousands of independent UK accountancy practices, the vast majority under £1 million in turnover. The sector has barely consolidated – most owner-managed practices have never seen a serious acquisition approach, let alone a structured one. Deep supply. Limited competition for the right deals.
03
Owner-manager retirement.
Most UK practice owners are over 55, with no in-house succession plan. They’ve spent decades building a single asset they now need to convert into something else. They’re looking for an exit – and they want it handled properly, by a buyer who’ll continue what they’ve built rather than strip it down.
I watched self-proclaimed coaches destroy businesses. So I built something different.
Ben Jacob-Smith
For years I watched the same pattern. Practices built over decades sold to buyers who stripped them inside eighteen months. Clients left worse off than when they came in. Business owners taking direction from coaches without an exam between them – paying thousands for advice that destroyed cash flow, ended marriages, cost people their houses. The whole sector – practice owners and the business owners they served – being failed by people who’d never owned what they were advising on.
I wanted to change it. By building the actual thing – qualified accountants, experienced advisors, a regulated practice, and a structure that holds onto what it buys and runs it properly.
That’s what The Obsessed Group is. ACCA-regulated practice. Master’s degrees as a minimum across the team. PhD researcher developing a fully accredited Master’s programme in entrepreneurship – because the people advising businesses should be at the top of their field. Active acquisitions programme building in the market right now. Built from scratch with the founder’s own capital invested.
Qualified accountants doing both compliance and advisory. Practices kept inside the group, not stripped. One ongoing relationship with each client – not a transaction every March. Specialised information from people who actually trained to give it. The standard the sector should be running at. We’re rebuilding it.
The founder.
I’m Ben Jacob-Smith. I founded The Obsessed Group and I’m its sole director. Everything the group does – what we acquire, how we run it, who we work with – comes back to me.
Before the group, a decade of training UK entrepreneurs. 10,000+ trained across multiple countries. £1m+ businesses taken from £0 to seven figures through that work. 300+ events, conferences, and keynotes delivered. Rooms ranging from 1:1 to 700 people. Hundreds of UK events, livestreamed across Europe, the US, and the Middle East. Bootcamps from one-day to four-day intensive. Media: BBC and Channel 5. Commercial work for Metro Bank, including teaching at their Central London HQ. 160+ five-star reviews from people I’ve worked with. Multi-award winning.
Now I’m doing the acquisitions myself. The valuation system is mine – built with input from financers, banks, and sector data. Applied in person. I’m signing heads of terms and walking away from deals that don’t fit.
PhD researcher in business and entrepreneurship – developing a fully accredited Master’s programme in entrepreneurship. The whole group is built around qualified people doing the work properly.

Why we work with investors.
01
Direct relationship.
You work with Ben. Not a fund manager, not an investor relations contact, not a team that rotates. Every conversation, every update, every decision comes back to the same person – the sole director of the group.
02
Operating business, not a fund.
We’re not managing money. We’re running a UK group of accountancy businesses and bringing in a small number of qualified investors to back what we’re doing. Decisions get made operationally, by the people running the work – not by a committee voting on a deck.
03
Long-term operating.
The group is built to keep what it buys, integrate it properly, and run it to the standard the rest of the brand runs at. We’re not in the strip-and-resell business. That changes the kind of investor we work well with – and the kind we don’t.
04
Honest reporting.
If a deal falls through, you’ll hear about it. If we change what we’re looking for, you’ll hear about it. If something we tried isn’t working, you’ll hear about it. Honest reporting is a baseline, not a feature.
This is the start of something much bigger.
The Obsessed Group is being built as a serious accountancy and advisory institution – not a coaching brand, not a content business, not a one-bloke consultancy that happens to have a website. Three teams. One platform. A real long game.
What’s live today: the regulated practice, the advisory function, an active acquisitions programme buying real businesses in the UK market. What’s being built: a UK-wide footprint, a master’s-qualified team across every function, an investor channel for high-net-worth and sophisticated investors who want exposure to a proper group structure, and an internationally-delivered training arm.
The structure of an institution, not a consultancy. It takes years. Built from scratch with the founder’s own capital invested. We’ve started.
