UK accountancy and bookkeeping practices. £500,000 to £1.5 million turnover. Compliance, advisory and mixed revenue. We don’t buy audit-only or overseas.

Funded by founder capital and a small number of qualified investors. We’re not a fund. Anyone backing the group is backing a business that’s already running.

Each practice goes through the same valuation process, built in-house – a rigorous initial check backed by full financial and legal due diligence. We establish the risk profile, multiple and how the practice fits the group. Cash and earn-out structures both used. Contracts are negotiated directly by Ben.
What we change.
When a practice joins the group, every client gets a detailed onboarding. They get the chance to experience and use the rest of the platform – Obsessed Accounting for compliance, Obsessed Advisory for growth work (the Academy, V.O.P. and 1:1 with Ben). They take what they want, when they’re ready.
How we run it.
Each acquired practice sits in its own SPV under the group. Obsessed Group Ltd holds the platform; Obsessed Ltd operates it; Obsessed Accounting and Obsessed Advisory are the operating teams. Every acquisition runs inside that structure. The group is built to keep what it buys, rather than strip and resell.
Why we acquire in accountancy.

Recurring revenue.
UK accountancy is built on monthly retainers and annual compliance work – corporation tax, payroll, VAT, statutory accounts, self-assessment. Most clients stay with their accountant for years. The revenue is recurring and forecastable. That’s the foundation of what makes an accountancy practice worth acquiring and running.

Underserved at our level.
Big consolidators have moved hard on the upper end of the sector – £2 million-plus practices, multi-partner firms, audit operations. The segment below them – the £500,000 to £1.5 million owner-managed practices we acquire – has been left almost untouched. These aren’t broken businesses or distressed sellers. They’re built by capable owners who’ve taken them as far as they can go alone.

Owner-manager retirement.
Most UK practice owners are over 55, with no in-house succession plan. They’ve spent decades building a single asset they now need to convert into something else. They’re looking for an exit – and they want it handled by a buyer who’ll continue what they’ve built rather than strip it down.
The next decade of accountancy.
The sector is changing fast: with new regulation, baby boomers exiting the industry and AI having a direct impact on compliance-only practices. The accountancies that will boom over the next decade will need much more than just compliance. They’re going to need marketing, advisory, brand-building and operating infrastructure to deliver this not just to themselves, but to their clients.
Most £500,000 to £1.5 million practices don’t have any of that. The owners are capable people who’ve taken the business as far as they can go alone – but they almost always have no marketing they can rely on, no focus on sales and closing new clients, no proven advisory offerings or a team that’s trained to run all of this in-house. They’ve hit the ceiling of what one person can build.
That’s where we come in. Every practice we acquire gets the full platform we’ve built – Obsessed Accounting for compliance (ACCA regulated), Obsessed Advisory for growth work and a central team for marketing, lead generation, brand-building, system building and recruitment. The practices we acquire don’t just continue as they are – they take a step into the next level the owner couldn’t reach alone.

I’m Ben Jacob-Smith.
I founded The Obsessed Group and I’m its sole director. Everything the group does – what we acquire, how we run it, who we work with – comes back to me.
Before the group, I’d spent decades building businesses myself, followed by another decade of training entrepreneurs and business owners. I’ve trained more than 10,000 so far, across many countries. Through that work, I’ve taken a number of client businesses from £0 to £1m+, with 250+ five-star reviews along the way. I’ve had the pleasure of training entrepreneurs at 300+ events and conferences, with rooms ranging from small mastermind groups up to auditoriums of 500+ attendees. My sessions have been livestreamed across Europe, the US and the Middle East.
Rather than simply advising business owners on how to grow, I’m doing the growth myself, through acquisitions. The valuation system was developed in-house, built with input from financiers, banks, lenders and sector data. Deals are sourced mostly off-market. I hold the meetings and negotiations, and get to heads of terms with the practices that fit our group. The ones that don’t, we walk away from. The group has been built from scratch with my own capital. I’m currently completing my PhD research in business and entrepreneurship.

The Obsessed Group is being built as a regulated UK accountancy, advisory and acquisitions group – focused on the mid-market segment the larger acquirers have left untouched. The architecture for what comes next is already built.
The group grows two ways. We acquire established UK accountancy practices and bring them into the group under shared standards and a single operating discipline. And we recruit the strongest people we can find in industry – qualified accountants, experienced advisors and specialists – because reputation is built on the people.
It’s a long build, with no shortcuts and no quick exits. Every relationship – the firms we acquire, the people we recruit, the clients we serve, the investors who back the work – is structured for years, not for the next quarter. Accounting is entering a new era, and we’re building the group that leads it.
