Most accountants tell you what happened. We tell you what’s possible.

Most business owners are running their business. Very few are in control of it.

That changes when your accounting is built around what your business is capable of – not just what it has to file. Qualified accountants, real visibility, fixed monthly pricing, and a team that uses your numbers to show you what’s next.

Three tiers, built around where you actually are.

Every business needs a different level of accounting. The Know tier covers the essentials, properly. The Know+ tier takes the books off your hands. The Know Pro tier is for businesses serious about using their numbers to grow. Whichever fits, we’ll work it out together.

01

The essentials. Done properly.

The tier for businesses who keep their own books and just need the year-end and tax done properly.

Annual accounts and tax returns prepared, filed, and signed off by a qualified accountant. Your records stay in QuickBooks, FreeAgent, or a reconciled spreadsheet. Bookkeeping isn’t included on the Know tier – most businesses here either handle it themselves or add it as a paid add-on. The point of the Know tier is simple: get the compliance work done properly, on time, by someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

02

Your books and your returns. Off your plate.

For businesses growing past the point where doing it yourself makes sense. Bookkeeping, compliance, and software handled properly, in one place.

Everything in the Know tier plus your bookkeeping done for you (up to 50 transactions a month), your VAT returns prepared, your software subscription included (QuickBooks or FreeAgent – your choice), and tax investigation insurance bundled in. We handle HMRC correspondence so you stop dreading the brown envelopes. The Know+ tier is where most of our clients land – properly off your plate, properly compliant, properly priced.

03

Numbers that actually make decisions easier.

For businesses serious about using their numbers – not just filing them. The bridge between accounting and advisory.

Everything in the Know+ tier plus quarterly management accounts with a deep-dive analysis session – where someone who genuinely understands your business sits with you and goes through what your numbers are actually telling you. Annual tax planning review. Larger bookkeeping allowance. A dedicated account manager who knows you, knows your business, and picks up the phone. The Know Pro tier is where serious businesses sit – and it’s the natural step toward Advisory when you’re ready.

Add-ons available across all tiers: Bookkeeping at higher transaction volumes, payroll, CIS, company secretarial work, partnership returns, complex Self Assessment, additional director’s tax returns. All quoted standalone – see your advisory session.

Records requirement (Know tier): Records must be in QuickBooks, FreeAgent, or a reconciled spreadsheet. Bookkeeping available as an add-on at £150/month if needed.

What’s not on this list: Audit (we don’t do audit work). For businesses needing audit, we’ll point you to a firm that does.

"Three months in and I'm in control of my business for the first time in eight years. The numbers stopped being something I dreaded and started being something I actually use. I make decisions faster, the right way, with proof."

Henry T ·  Heating and Air Conditioning

Three businesses. Three different fits.

Obsessed Accounting isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right tier depends on where you actually are – not where someone wants to sell you to. Most clients recognise themselves in one of these three.

You’re past the spreadsheet, but not yet a limited company.

You’ve outgrown doing it on the back of an envelope. You want someone qualified looking at your numbers, your Self Assessment done properly, and a sounding board for whether it’s time to incorporate. Not a packaged-up product you don’t need – just the essentials, done right.

The Know tier · From £99/mo

You’re tired of year-end shock and surprise bills.

You’re running a real business, doing real numbers, and the current accountancy setup is friction. Books late. Compliance reactive. The phone goes unanswered. You want one team handling it all – books, VAT, tax, HMRC – and a proper conversation about your numbers, not a brown envelope twice a year.

The Know+ tier · From £349/mo

You want your numbers making decisions easier – not slower.

Six-figure turnover and growing. Real ambition. Maybe an exit on the horizon, maybe not. Either way – the year-end accounts aren’t enough anymore. You want quarterly visibility, deep-dive analysis, and a team who’ll bridge into Advisory when the time’s right. The numbers are no longer admin. They’re how you steer.

The Know Pro tier · From £499/mo

Most accountants take six weeks to onboard you. We use those six weeks differently.

The industry-standard onboarding process is six to eight weeks of admin. Engagement letter, AML, software setup, records request, opening balances reconciled. We do all of that. But the real work – and the real difference – happens in what every other accountant skips: a forensic look at the last 24 months. Where money was left on the table. Where compliance got lazy. Where decisions were made without the numbers to back them. By the time you’re a client, we’ve already started fixing things.

01

A 45-minute honest conversation about where you actually are.

Where the business is, where it’s going, what’s working, what isn’t. Not a sales call dressed up as advice 0 a proper diagnostic conversation with the team that would actually be working on your business. By the end, you know exactly which tier fits, what it covers, and what it costs. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.

Day 1 · 45 mins

Free, always

02

A structured review of the last 24 months.

The bit nobody else does. We pull your last two years of accounts, returns, VAT records, payroll, and any management info you’ve got. We work through it properly, looking for what was missed, what was mis-coded, what was left unclaimed, where reliefs weren’t applied, where decisions cost more than they should have. By the end, you have a written summary – what your previous accountant did, what they didn’t, and what we’ll address in the first 90 days. This isn’t a sales tool. It’s the work.

Week 1–2

The differentiator

03

Written. Specific. Costed.

A written plan covering everything: what we found in the Deep Dive, what we’re going to do about it, the tier that fits, exact monthly cost, the first 90 days of work, and the reporting cadence going forward. You sign nothing until you’ve read it, asked every question, and you’re satisfied. No pressure tactics. If you walk away, you keep what we found. That’s yours either way.

Week 2

Yours to keep

04

You don’t talk to your old accountant again. We do.

Once you’ve signed, we run the entire transition. Professional clearance letter to your previous accountant. HMRC agent authority filed. Software set up properly (QuickBooks or FreeAgent – your choice). Records pulled forward. Opening balances reconciled. Anti-money laundering checks completed. You don’t chase your old accountant for files, don’t fill out a fifty-question intake form, don’t sit on hold to HMRC. You sign three things, send us your last set of accounts, and we handle the rest.

Week 3-4

We handle the lot

05

Onboarding doesn’t end when the paperwork’s done.

The first 90 days is where the review turns into action. We close the loops we found – fix the mis-codings, reclaim what got missed, clean up the records, get the bookkeeping current. We set up your reporting cadence so you’re seeing your numbers when they matter, not six months late. By day 90, your accounting isn’t just compliant – it’s a tool you can actually use to run the business. That’s the whole point.

Days 30–90

Where it pays off

By Day 90, you don’t just have a new accountant. You have a business in control of itself.

I watched self-proclaimed coaches destroy businesses. So I built something different.

Ben Jacob-Smith

I sat across from a business owner who’d just remortgaged his family home. Not to invest in his business. To pay a “coach” who’d told him to “invest in himself.”

The coach had no qualifications. No regulator. No accountability. No insurance if it went wrong. Just a sales funnel, a confidence problem cosplaying as confidence, and a willingness to sell hope to someone who couldn’t afford to lose. The numbers underneath that man’s business were a horror show. Nobody was looking at them. Not him. Not the coach. Not his accountant – who was filing the year-end and going home.

It wasn’t the first time I’d seen it. It was the version that broke me.

Obsessed exists because the lower-mid market – sole traders, limited companies, growing businesses – has been catastrophically badly served. Coaches without qualifications selling transformation. Accountants who file returns and nothing else. Nobody in the middle actually doing the work that genuinely changes a business.

So we built something different. Most accounting firms – even the modern ones – work to the same broken model: bookkeeper at the bottom, partner at the top, a sales call somewhere in the middle. Same brown envelopes, same year-end shock. Obsessed pulls accounting and advisory under one roof, run by qualified, regulated professionals – not opinion-merchants and not box-tickers. The accounting work is governed by the global body for professional accountants. The advisory work is built on operating experience, not internet courses. Together they do what neither side does on its own: make your numbers a tool for control, not a record of what already happened.

Qualified, not self-appointed. Regulated, not improvised. Built around your business – not around the bill.

Qualified.

Not just experienced. Master’s-qualified team, a PhD researcher, an ACCA-regulated practice.

First-hand.

Not theoretical. Every word tested in real businesses, with real numbers.

Regulated.

Not self-appointed. Governed by the global body for professional accountants.

The world doesn’t need more advice from people who haven’t done what they’re advising on.

Over 250 five-star reviews. Here’s what business owners actaully say.

Governed by the global standard for the profession.

Obsessed Accounting is a regulated practice – overseen by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Our principal holds Fellowship status (FCCA), and the practice operates under the Standards, Ethics, and oversight that ACCA membership requires. Practising certificate held. Professional indemnity insurance in place. Anti-money laundering supervision active. The regulator can be contacted directly.

This is where it starts.

Stage 01 of three. Once your numbers are in control, the next stage is Advisory.

Whichever tier fits, every Obsessed Accounting relationship starts with one honest conversation about where your business actually is right now – and what your numbers are really telling you.
